GN ReSound M&RIE microphone filters, also called wax guards, are a small protective cap that prevents debris, moisture and ear wax from entering the microphone port on M&RIE receivers which helps maintain performance and sound quality. Replacing them regularly, for example every 4 weeks, helps preserve hearing aid quality and reduces the need for servicing.
The filter/ wax guard comes atached to an insertion tool. After placing it in the M&RIE microphone opening, the tool is rotated approximately 270º to snap off the filter stem. Then pull the tool away.
